A compulsive scrapbooker since childhood, Eduardo Paolozzi’s ‘Bunk!’ was created between 1947 and 1952. A series of 47 collages cut from American magazines, ‘Bunk!’ was shown to the public during a 1952 lecture at London’s ICA. Met with a divisive response, it was the first time that images from popular culture were presented as fine art. Still significant today, Paolozzi’s ‘Bunk!’ is retrospectively credited with launching the Pop Art movement.
