Mikołaj Sobczak is one of the artists in residence of Art Explora – Cité internationale des arts programme in Montmartre.
Through paintings, videos and performances, the artist tells the little-known stories of queer emigrants to Paris after the Great War. His residency project explores the rumours and gossip surrounding their love affairs.
Born in Poland and currently based in Amsterdam, Mikołaj Sobczak approaches political issues and historical narratives from an artistic point of view. His exhibitions include Ludwig Forum Aachen, Kunsthalle Muenster and Haus der Kulturen der Welt.
