The Impressionist Adventure
To mark the 150th anniversary of the first Impressionist exhibition and in conjunction with the exhibition "Paris 1874. Inventing Impressionism" exhibition, the Musée d'Orsay is offering a series of 6 lectures for the general public, looking at Impressionism from a fresh and dynamic angle. Take the time to rediscover this movement through essential themes: painting techniques, landscape, models, the art market, Impressionism and cinema.

To mark the 150th anniversary of the first Impressionist exhibition, and in conjunction with the exhibition “Paris 1874. Inventing Impressionism” exhibition, which opened its doors at the Musée d’Orsay on 6 March 2024, a series of 6 lectures for the general public looks at Impressionism from a fresh and dynamic angle.

A fourth lecture looks at Impressionism and models. How did the Impressionist painters portray the children around them who served as models? Between solitude, tenderness, amusement and distance, these painters portrayed a world of childhood in upheaval, at the time of Jules Ferry’s primary school laws…
