Abstraction
Abstraction is a movement that appeared at the beginning of the 20th century in opposition to figurative art, which more or less faithfully represents objects, characters, etc. This central movement in the history of contemporary art is one of the greatest artistic revolutions that exists. If you want to go back to the fundamentals and study this subject in more depth thanks to a few key artists, you've come to the right place!
Helen Frankenthaler (1928-2011) was a defining figure of mid-20th-century American art. With an extraordinary language of abstraction, she worked across sculpture, printmaking, woodcutting, and even set design, but it was her imposing paintings, replete with gestural swathes of emotive color, for which she ascended the ranks to Modern Master.
