With the aim of exploring contemporary issues related to the notion of belonging or gender, Italian-Senegalese artist Binta Diaw uses organic materials such as earth or chalk, and even synthetic hair, to create her significant works. Throughout her residency as part of Art Explora – @citedesarts programme, she develops a video project designed to turn the conventional view of Afro-European migration on its head. By using Senegalese carpets and natural elements, she succeeds in creating a stately installation inspired by her exchanges and encounters.
