Rachel Ruysch (b. The Hague 1664-1750) was the so-called “subtle art heroine” of the Baroque-era Netherlands, but her accomplishments were monumental – as one of the most in-demand painters of her day she’s considered the best-documented woman artist to come out of the Dutch Golden Age.
